In most cases, migraines affect only one side of the head. It usually causes pathetic pain that can last between 4 and 72 hours if not treated, and usually requires you to go to bed. An attack is paralyzing and those affected usually feel crippled and exhausted after a headache is over.
Medical experts have not yet discovered why there can be long periods without headaches for some people and not for others. Other symptoms, similar to those of the flu, are perceived by the patient, such as sensitivity to light and chills, as well as a feeling of drowsiness.
Usually, those who suffer from migraine attacks are between 10 and 40 years old. Nobody knows why migraines occur in these age groups, but when someone turns fifty, he or she almost never have seizures.
Members of the same family are often cursed with migraines, and it is believed that there is a genetic connection, but science has not yet proven that there is indeed a genetic factor in the workplace.
In addition, women have three times the chance of migraines, while men have an eight percent chance of suffering from the problem. Science cannot yet explain why this is so.
A clear warning called aura usually occurs before the migraine attack after 10-30 minutes. Signs that you are experiencing the aura are usually the senses and may include:
- Problems with vision
- Reduction of taste sensations
- Difficulties with verbal skills
This is just a short list, and other symptoms can and will occur. Migraine can also attack without aura and develops an extreme intensity that is amplified by constant movement, light, and noise and often leads to nausea and vomiting.
Some doctors believe that it is the contracting blood vessels that are responsible for a migraine with an aura effect.
Headaches may be caused by the dilation of blood vessels afterward; people say that headaches are often so intense that they interfere with their normal routine, interfere with daily activity and often keep them awake at night. You can experience one or more triggers with each attack.
The most common complaints are bad weather, especially food and drink, high altitude, bright light, insomnia, and stress.
